Overview

Welcome to the Gastroenterology Department at Atrius Health, providing a comprehensive approach to the evaluation and treatment of digestive disorders. Our team provides diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of gastroenterological problems through a full range of services including:

  • Outpatient and inpatient consultation
  • Colon cancer screening

  • Capsule endoscopy

Gastroenterology services are offered at several Atrius Health practice locations

If your medical history is more complicated, you will be prescreened by our nurse practitioner and/or evaluated by a gastroenterologist. You may be referred to the Atrius Health Colon Cancer Risk Assessment Program where further genetic testing counseling is offered.

For patients with Hepatitis C, our Hepatitis C Treatment Support Program is offered to help prepare for and manage their hepatitis treatment. Our nurse specialists focus on education and support by helping patients understand what to expect and how to administer their treatments. Nurses closely follow patients with regular phone check-ins, symptom management and coordination of lab testing and results.

Our gastroenterologists are board-certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology and are affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center or Mount Auburn Hospital. Many of our gastroenterologists hold faculty appointments at Harvard Medical School and are involved in collaborative research activities to improve diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterological care.

At Atrius Health, your gastroenterologist, your primary care physician and other members of the medical team work closely to coordinate your care across all services. And our advanced electronic medical record ensures that all members of your gastroenterology care team have access to your medical history and the latest information regarding your condition, your medication and your treatment.
