Expanded E-Visit Options

At Atrius Health, we want to make care as accessible as possible for our patients, and we know that some simple medical conditions can often be diagnosed and treated without an in-person exam or even a video visit. An E-Visit is a convenient way to get care without having to schedule an appointment and come into the office to see a clinician.

E-Visits can be done via the MyHealth Online patient portal. You complete an online questionnaire to provide more information about your symptoms. Your questionnaire is then sent to a clinician who will review your responses and medical history. They will respond to you with a message in your MyHealth account that shares their treatment recommendations, including any prescriptions or testing needed for your condition as appropriate.

You can submit an E-Visit questionnaire for the following medical problems:
  • Upper respiratory infections
  • Pink eye
  • Seasonal allergies
  • Rash
  • Tick bites (without other symptoms)
  • Sinus symptoms
  • Urinary tract infection (UTI)
  • Vaginal discharge
  • COVID-19 treatment after a positive test result

How does an E-Visit work?

Unlike a video (or in-person) visit where you schedule a time to meet face-to-face with a clinician, an E-Visit simply requires you to go online when it’s convenient for you, complete a questionnaire with your symptoms, then submit it for a clinician to review.

In your MyHealth Online account, click on the “Your Menu” option at the top left of your screen and select “Symptom Checker” from the drop-down list. Follow the prompts to answer questions securely and confidentially about your symptoms. Based on your answers, the system will confirm whether an E-Visit may work for you or offer you other appropriate options for care. If you choose to move forward with an E-Visit, complete the prompts and hit “Submit” at the end. That’s it!

Your completed questionnaire will be sent to our team of E-Visit doctors, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants to review your symptoms and your medical history. An E-Visit clinician will send you a message with a recommended treatment plan. They can prescribe medications or arrange for follow-up testing as appropriate without the need for you to schedule an appointment.

Please note that if your symptoms do not match a likely diagnosis or you decide you would prefer to have a real-time discussion with a clinician instead, the E-Visit system will offer you the option to make an appointment, ensuring you receive the care you need.

A co-payment may be charged for an E-Visit based on your health plan insurance coverage. This cost will typically be the same as a virtual or in-office visit. If the reviewing clinician feels an office or virtual appointment is needed, they will recommend this treatment path, and you will not also be charged for the E-Visit.

How Quickly Can I Get a Response?

For questionnaires submitted before 4:30pm each day, our clinicians can usually respond within a few hours and will respond no later than 8:00pm the same day. E-Visits submitted after 4:30pm, on weekends, or on holidays will be addressed by a clinician on the following business day.  You can submit an E-Visit questionnaire 7 days a week, but again, submissions after 4:30pm on Fridays or on the weekend days will not receive a response until the next business day.

We plan to expand the types of medical conditions we can treat via an E-Visit to provide our patients with high-quality care that is both easy and convenient for them.
