Facial Rejuvenation Treatments and Injectables

Neuromodulators (Botox®, Dysport®)
Neuromodulators are FDA-approved treatments that can be used to soften wrinkles of the upper face. These include lines and wrinkles between the eyebrows (sometimes called the “11’s” or “angry lines”), horizontal wrinkles of the forehead, and “crow’s feet” at the outside corners of the eyes. It can also create a smoother appearance to the skin surface by reducing excessive muscle contraction.

Treatments can be customized to create the most natural result. Botox injections are safe and very well-tolerated. Rare side effects can include discomfort at the injection site and temporary headache

Facial Fillers (Restylane®, Restylane® Lyft, Refyne, Restylane® Defyne, Juvederm®, Voluma® and Volbella®)
As we age, we can lose baby fat and collagen in the face which can exacerbate signs of aging. Facial fillers are natural cosmetic treatments that can be injected to restore volume of the face and tightness of the skin, creating a more youthful and energetic appearance. Common areas of treatment are nasolabial folds, and wrinkles around the mouth (marionette lines), and lips. Fillers may also be used to restore volume to the cheeks and lift the midface skin to create a more youthful and energetic appearance. Treatment is tailored to specific problem areas.

Prior to the injection, the physician will numb the area either by the application of ice or with a topical anesthetic. Side effects can include discomfort at the injection site and mild bruising, but the procedure is fast, well-tolerated, and has a short recovery time. Results from facial fillers are fully evident within one week and should last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the area of the face and the specific filler.

Poly-L-Lactic Acid Fillers (Sculptra®)
Sculptra (poly-L-Lactic acid) is a unique facial filler that can help restore the youthful appearance of your face by improving the contour and the tightness of your skin. It is particularly useful for treating hollowed appearing cheeks and temples. Sculptra has been called a "liquid facelift" because of its ability to provide a natural-looking lift to the cheeks and jowls. Different from all other traditional facial fillers, Sculptra works by stimulating your own body to make new collagen. The results are very gradual, and can last up to several years. Multiple treatments may be needed to achieve optimal results. After treatment, the patient should massage the affected areas for 5 days. Possible side effects include temporary discomfort at the injection site and bruising. A rare side effect may be the appearance of nodules, which could require additional massage or steroid treatment.

Deoxycholic acid Treatment (Kybella®)
Kybella (deoxycholic acid), also known as the “non-surgical necklift,” is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment that destroys fat cells under the chin to improve your profile – whether you have a moderate amount of chin fullness or a bit more. This is a quick office procedure which is performed with local anesthesia. Multiple treatments may be recommended to provide optimal results, depending on the amount of submental fat that is present. Side effects are minimal and include temporary swelling after the procedure. This is a novel, non-invasive method to improve the neck and jawline profile and to reduce a “double-chin” without surgery.
