Part of providing high quality care is being sensitive to patients’ cultural backgrounds and preferred languages. Atrius Health provides foreign language interpreter services at no cost to all patients to assist communication between our clinicians and patients whose primary language is not English.
Atrius Health has several employees at many of our practice locations who have medical interpreting certificates and make themselves available to interpret (verbal communication) or translate (written communication). If an on-site interpreter is not available, the Harvard Vanguard and Dedham Medical practices use Language Line Interpreters, a full-service, 24-hour medical interpreter conference call bank. Granite Medical Quincy arranges interpreter service through an outside service.
Between our staff interpreters and the live phone interpreters, we can offer our patients interpreter services in over 170 languages including:
- Arabic (Modern Standard)
- Cape Verdean Creole
- Haitian Creole
In addition, Atrius Health has formally assessed American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters who are available for scheduled appointments.
If you would like to use Atrius Health's interpreter services, please let your doctor’s office know when you make the appointment.
