The Harvard Vanguard Somerville practice provides primary care for adults and children, and a wide range of medical and surgical specialty care to residents of residents of Somerville, Arlington, Cambridge, Belmont, Medford, Malden, and other nearby cities and towns since 1990. The office is conveniently located in the heart of Davis Square, next to the MBTA station Holland Street exit (Red Line).

Our preferred hospital partners include Mount Auburn Hospital, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Winchester Hospital, Boston Children’s Hospital and New England Baptist Hospital.

The optical shop is open by appointment only, Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Please call for an appointment.

24/7 Medical Advice

Medical advice is available to patients by telephone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you need medical advice after office hours, please call your doctor's office. Follow the phone prompts to be routed to our after-hours triage service staffed by nurse practitioners and physician assistants with access to your electronic medical record.

Weekend & Holiday Urgent Care

All patients have access to adult and pediatric weekend urgent care at our regionally located practices. Unless it is a life-threatening emergency (in which case you should call 911), you can use our weekend and holiday urgent care hours for most health-related situations.

Getting Here

We are located in the heart of Davis Square, next to the MBTA Station Holland Street exit (Red Line).

From Harvard Square:

Head North on Massachusetts Avenue. Go past the Porter Square Shopping Area on your right. Continue on Massachusetts Avenue and take a right at the lights onto Beech Street. Turn left on Elm Street. Turn right onto Russell Street which turns into Cutter Avenue. Turn left onto Highland Avenue, stay in the middle lane and continue straight to Holland Street. Our building will be on the left. Pass the building and turn left onto Buena Vista Road.  Parking is available either in the metered municipal (city) lot which is immediately on your left, or further down the road on the left in the Harvard Vanguard underground garage.  There is a $3.00 parking fee for the garage.

From the West (Route 2 or Route 16 Watertown):

Head East on Route 16 until you reach the intersection of Route 16 and Broadway (Somerville).  Turn right onto Broadway.  At the second set of traffic lights (Teele Square), bear right onto Holland Street.  Harvard Vanguard is nine streets down on the right at the corner of Buena Vista Road.  Turn right onto Buena Vista Road.  Parking is available either in the metered municipal (city) lot which is immediately on your left, or further down the road on the left in the Harvard Vanguard underground garage.  There is a $3.00 parking fee for the garage.

From the North:

Take Route 93 South to Exit 23 (Old 32, Route 60, Medford Square), bear right at the end of the ramp proceeding through Medford Square and follow signs to Route 16 West.  **Follow Route 16 directions below.

From the South:

Take Route 93 North to Exit 22 (Old 31, Route 16 West/Mystic Valley Parkway).  **Follow Route 16 directions below.

From the East:

Travel on Route 16 West (Revere Beach Parkway - Mystic Valley Parkway - Alewife Brook Parkway).  **Follow Route 16 directions below.
