The Harvard Vanguard Post Office Square practice offers adult primary care, family medicine (adults and children), obstetrics and gynecology, and a wide range of medical and surgical specialty care to residents of Boston, Cambridge, Brookline, and other nearby cities and towns. We are conveniently located on Milk Street in downtown Boston, are accessible by public transportation, and have proudly cared for the community since 1984.

Our preferred hospital partners include Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Mount Auburn Hospital, and New England Baptist Hospital. We continually strive to improve in every regard - operational and clinical - in order to better serve our patients.

The pharmacy will be open Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:30pm.

The optical shop is open by appointment only, Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm. Please call for an appointment.

24/7 Medical Advice

Medical advice is available to patients by telephone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you need medical advice after office hours, please call your doctor's office. Follow the phone prompts to be routed to our after-hours triage service staffed by nurse practitioners and physician assistants with access to your electronic medical record.

Weekend & Holiday Urgent Care

All patients have access to adult and pediatric weekend and holiday urgent care at our regionally located practices. Unless it is a life-threatening emergency (in which case you should call 911), you can use our weekend and holiday urgent care hours for most health-related situations.

Getting Here

From the North:
Take I-93 South to Exit 16B (Old 23) - Purchase Street (towards South Station).  Stay straight to go onto Purchase Street, (pass City of Boston Fire Department Headquarters on the right) and turn right onto Pearl Street.  Pass two sets of lights and at next set of lights turn right onto Milk Street.  Drive two blocks and 147 Milk Street will be on the right.  Look for a blue awning with our logo outside of the building.

From the South:
Take I-93 North to Exit 17 (Old 23) - Government Center (towards Government Center). Stay left off the exit (following signs for Government Center/Faneuil Hall).  Take your first left onto North Street (Faneuil Hall is on the left and Haymarket is on the right) and follow it to the end.  Turn left onto Congress Street.  At the third set of lights, turn left onto Milk Street. Drive two blocks and 147 Milk Street will be on the right. Look for a blue awning with our logo outside of the building.

From the West:
Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) into Boston and take Exit 134-A (Old 24A) South Station.  At the end of the exit, continue straight on Atlantic Ave (South Station is on the right).  At the third set of lights, turn left onto Summer Street (stay on the right hand side).  Drive straight and at the second set of lights, turn right onto High Street.  Then turn left onto Federal Street.  At the end of Federal Street, turn right onto Milk Street.  Drive three blocks and 147 Milk Street will be located on the right.  Look for a blue awning with our logo outside of the building.

From the Prudential Center, Copley Square, or Boylston Street (Back Bay):
Take Boylston Street towards the Boston Common.  Turn left onto Charles Street and then turn right onto Beacon Street.  Beacon Street crosses Tremont Street and becomes School Street.  At the end of School Street, turn left onto Washington Street and immediately right onto Water Street.  Follow Water Street three blocks to a large statue at Liberty Square and turn right onto Kilby Street. At the next intersection, take a left onto Milk Street.  147 Milk Street will be on your right.  Look for a blue awning with our logo outside of the building.
