At the Center for Healthcare Innovation, we believe that innovative health care is about more than the shiniest devices or newest tech. It’s about understanding our patients, and designing and building a system of care to meet their needs. That’s why we identify, create, test, and introduce novel care delivery solutions to often stubborn, pervasive care delivery problems that affect patient care and the patient experience.

Patients are the customers
Atrius Health exists to serve our patients. And patients these days want to be served more than ever before. In this consumer-driven world, people have taken charge of their lives in ways that were previously unimaginable – and health care is no exception. As our patients’ needs and wants change, we have to change with them.
It’s bigger than the business
We don’t take care of people so that we can sustain our business; we sustain our business so that we can take care of people. At the Center for Healthcare Innovation, we’re driven by the opportunity we have to improve people’s lives in a fundamental and powerful way. This ultimate goal keeps us motivated throughout the inevitable trials and failures of innovation.
There's always something better
Complacency doesn't fly with this group. We know that the health care system has failures, but we refuse to accept them. If something doesn't make sense or isn't working right, we examine it and endeavor to build something better.
Think divergently
Einstein once said: “If I had an hour to solve a problem, I'd spend 55 minutes thinking about the problem and 5 minutes thinking about solutions.” We take that maxim seriously. Before we converge on a solution, we saturate ourselves in exploring and understanding both the problem and opportunity. And even when we get to ideating, we take a doggedly open approach: We find strategic partners, learn from experts, look outside the industry, and always, always talk to our patients.
