WILLIAM F. AIKMAN APPOINTED PRESIDENT & CEO OF ATRIUS HEALTH FOUNDATION

Newton, MA (May 11, 2009) – William F. Aikman has joined Atrius Health as President & CEO of the Atrius Health Foundation.

The Atrius Health Foundation was established to support innovative programs that make it easier for patients and their communities to be healthy and to help improve the quality, safety, accessibility, and affordability of the health care system. In his new role, Mr. Aikman will lead the Foundation’s efforts to make Atrius Health a national laboratory for innovation in the delivery of healthcare.

Mr. Aikman was previously President and CEO of Gryphon Management Company, Inc., a Boston-based venture capital and corporate finance advisory firm which he founded in 1984. Prior to founding Gryphon, Mr. Aikman served as president of Massachusetts Technology Development Corporation, the nation’s first publicly-financed venture capital firm which specialized in assisting high-tech companies located in economically-distressed areas. Aikman also was president and co-founder of the Massachusetts Center for Public Interest Law, Undersecretary of Economic Affairs for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and an attorney at the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute.

Mr. Aikman serves on the Board of Trustees of various not-for-profit organizations, including: The Museum of Science, Boston; Schepens Eye Research Institute of Harvard Medical School, and New England Certified Development Corporation (an organization which makes loans to small companies in economically-distressed areas). Previous Board memberships include Federation for Children with Special Needs, Task Force on Capital Formation, Advisory Council on Technology and Innovation and a variety of other educational, charitable and economic development groups. An attorney by training, Mr. Aikman was educated at Brown University, the University of Pennsylvania Law School and Harvard University Law School. Mr. Aikman is a resident of Boston.
