ATRIUS HEALTH WELCOMES TWO NEW MEMBERS TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Newton, MA - Atrius Health, an alliance of five community-based medical groups serving nearly 700,000 patients throughout eastern Massachusetts, is pleased to announce that Richard MacDonald and Robert Mechanic have been appointed to its Board of Trustees.

“The Board of Trustees is delighted to welcome Richard MacDonald and Rob Mechanic as members,” said Dr. Ed Nalband, Chairman of the Atrius Health Board of Trustees.  “They add important expertise in finance and health policy and will serve as valuable assets to our board and Atrius Health as we continue to deliver high quality care to our patients.”

Mechanic comes to the Atrius Health Board of Trustees with 20 years of experience serving in the health care field through consulting, strategic planning, financial analysis, health policy research, and business development.  He is currently Senior Fellow and Executive Director of the Health Industry Forum at the Heller School for Social Policy and Management.  In this role, he works with senior corporate leaders and national healthy policy officials to evaluate innovative strategies for improving the quality and effectiveness of the healthcare system.

Prior to joining the Heller School for Social Policy and Management in 2004, Mechanic was an independent consultant.  Previously, he held senior-level roles at Forrester Research, Massachusetts Hospital Association, and the Lewin Group. 
 
Mechanic, who earned his BA at the University of Wisconsin and his MBA at the Wharton School, is a resident of Newton, MA.

MacDonald has 30 years of financial management and development experience with growth business units up to $1B.  His areas of expertise include strategic planning, business modeling, organizational change initiatives, and staff development.  Most recently, MacDonald was the Director of Strategy-Operations & New Product Introduction at Teradyne, Inc., the world’s leading automated testing enterprise.

MacDonald, who earned his BS at Suffolk University and his MBA at Babson College, is a resident of Belmont, MA.
