ATRIUS HEALTH WINS "LAMPLIGHTER" AWARDS
FOR EXCELLENCE IN WRITING CATEGORIES
NEWTON, May 18, 2011—Atrius Health is proud to announce that it was awarded a Gold and a Silver Lamplighter Award for Excellence in Writing from the New England Society for Healthcare Communications (NESHCo). “The Board of Trustees is delighted to welcome Richard MacDonald and Rob Mechanic as members,” said Dr. Ed Nalband, Chairman of the Atrius Health Board of Trustees. “They add important expertise in finance and health policy and will serve as valuable assets to our board and Atrius Health as we continue to deliver high quality care to our patients.”
“We are honored to receive these awards,” said Dr. Gene Lindsey, president and CEO of Atrius Health. “These articles highlight the importance of improving the quality and reducing the costs of health care in the Commonwealth.”
The Gold Lamplighter was awarded for a Boston Business Journal piece titled “Health Care Payment Reform: Massachusetts Must Lead Again” authored by Dr. Gene Lindsey, president and CEO of Atrius Health and Rick Lord, president and CEO of Associated Industries of Massachusetts (AIM). The piece helped reignite the discussion on Massachusetts’ health care reform law and spur those health care leaders who were not as enthusiastic about payment reform legislation to recognize the consequences of waiting too long.
The Silver Lamplighter was awarded for an article in Commonwealth Magazine titled “Pay for Quality, Not Quantity” by Dr. Lindsey which focused on moving forward with global payments and dispelled the belief that this structure reduced patient care and access.
