ATRIUS HEALTH FOUNDATION RAISES $100,000 FOR HAITIAN MEDICAL RELIEF
Newton, MA - The Atrius Health Foundation is announcing the donation of $100,000 to support medical relief efforts for earthquake victims in Haiti. The funds were raised through the Foundation's Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund that was created in response to the January 12th earthquake and will provide support to Partners In Health(PIH), a Boston-based charity on the ground in Haiti.
"The devastation in Haiti has touched everyone at Atrius Health and we are very proud that over 800 Atrius Health medical group employees have made contributions to the Foundation's relief fund," said William F. Aikman, President and CEO, Atrius Health Foundation. "The Atrius Health community has really come together to continue providing help to the people of Haiti, who are still in desperate need of medical care."
On February 24, a check for $100,000 was presented to Partners in Health, the Boston-based charity that has been a leader in providing emergency medical and surgical relief in Haiti since the earthquake struck. The amount collected included corporate donations by Atrius Health and three of its affiliated medical groups, and from individual employees. Several Atrius Health medical group employees who are of Haitian descent and other staff were invited to present the check to Ophelia Dahl, Executive Director and Co-Founder, Partners in Health.
The Atrius Health Foundation was established in 2009 in order to support innovative programs that make it easier for patients and their communities to be healthy and to help improve the quality, safety, accessibility, and affordability of the health care system. The Foundation has also supported Atrius Health medical group clinicians on the ground in Haiti and worked to assist employees with immediate family members there through its Employee Emergency Fund.
One-hundred percent of all funds raised are going to support Haiti disaster relief efforts. To learn more about making a donation visit www.atriushealth.org and click on "Our Foundation."
