ATRIUS HEALTH PRESIDENT AND CEO DR. GENE LINDSEY APPOINTED TO HEALTH CARE QUALITY AND COST COUNCIL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Newton, MA (December 2009) – Dr. Gene Lindsey, president and CEO of Atrius Health, an alliance of five nonprofit multi-specialty medical groups with practice sites throughout eastern Massachusetts, has been appointed to the Massachusetts Health Care Quality and Cost Council Advisory Committee.
Dr. Lindsey will serve on the Advisory Committee, which was established to provide input and advice to the HCQCC. The Committee also includes representatives from consumer groups, business, labor, health care providers, and health plans.
The mission of the Health Care Quality and Cost Council (HCQCC) is to develop and coordinate the implementation of health care quality improvement goals that are intended to lower or contain the growth in health care costs while improving the quality of care, including reductions in racial and ethnic health disparities. With the help of the HCQCC, Massachusetts hopes to consistently rank in national measures as the state achieving the highest levels of performance in care that is safe, effective, patient centered, timely, efficient, equitable, integrated, and affordable.
Prior to his appointment as President and CEO of Atrius Health, Dr. Lindsey was Chairman of the Board of Directors for the organization and Chairman of the Board of Directors for Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates as well as a practicing cardiologist and internist. Dr. Lindsey joined Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in 1975 and practiced cardiology and internal medicine at the Kenmore, Wellesley and West Roxbury practices. He served on the board of Harvard Community Health Plan/Harvard Pilgrim Health Care from 1991 to 2000. Dr. Lindsey received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, where he is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor.
