ATRIUS HEALTH APPOINTS DAN MORIARTY CHIEF INFORMATION OFFICER
Newton, MA - March 12, 2010 - Atrius Health, an alliance of five nonprofit multi-specialty medical groups with practice sites throughout eastern Massachusetts, is pleased to announce that Dan Moriarty has been appointed to the position of Chief Information Officer.
“Dan will add strong experience and leadership to our information technology department and also to the senior management team,” said Dr. Gene Lindsey, president and CEO of Atrius Health and Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates. “His background working in a highly complex environment serving the needs of the multiple colleges within Harvard University makes Dan particularly well suited for our organization.”
Moriarty has served at Harvard University since 1995, first at the medical school and during the past 10 years as chief information officer and senior associate provost. In this most recent position, Moriarty was responsible for managing enterprise-wide information technology initiatives, including administrative systems, academic computing, and IT infrastructure.
Among his many accomplishments, Moriarty includes launching the creation of the university-wide academic computing collaboration (iCommons) that now supports over 5000 courses with multi-media materials used to create approximately 6000 standalone web sites within Harvard.
In his previous positions, Moriarty was director of the information technology practice at APM in New York, and president of the John Snow, Inc. Software Division.
Moriarty received a B.A. from Hampshire College and an MBA from Clark University. He has published numerous publications and has lectured nationally on topics such as strategic planning, information systems management, information technology assessment, health care management, and software development. Moriarty also taught courses in Healthcare IT and Strategy while at Harvard in various graduate degree and executive education programs for fifteen years.
