ATRIUS HEALTH ANNOUNCES BOARD APPOINTMENTS
Newton, Mass. (March 5, 2007) - Atrius Health, an alliance of community-based
physician groups in Massachusetts, is proud to announce that Dr. Joseph
L. Dorsey and James S. Hoyte have joined the Atrius Health
board of trustees, and Dr. H. Eugene Lindsey, Jr. has been elected
chairman of the board. Atrius Health is comprised of five affiliated multi-specialty
physician groups including Dedham Medical Associates, Granite Medical,
Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, South Shore Medical Center and Southboro
Medical Group.
Dr. Joseph L. Dorsey, a former primary care physician at Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, has practiced medicine for over 30 years, and recently retired as Director of Inpatient Services for Harvard Vanguard in June of 2006. Dr. Dorsey has worked with healthcare institutions across Boston such as Brigham and Women's and Faulkner Hospitals, and helped pioneer new care delivery models for overall improvement in patient care. Dr. Dorsey helped launch Harvard Community Health Plan, which represented Massachusetts' first staff model HMO and is the former chief medical officer of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. In August 2006, the Boston Business Journal honored him with a "Lifetime Achievement" award for his significant impact on healthcare in Massachusetts. Dr. Dorsey is a resident of Walpole.
James S. Hoyte is an Adjunct Lecturer on Public Policy at the Kennedy School of Government and Assistant to the President and Associate Vice President at Harvard University. An attorney and specialist in public policy, Mr. Hoyte was previously a consultant with Arthur D. Little, Inc. and a partner with Choate, Hall & Stewart. From 1983 through 1988, Hoyte served as Massachusetts Secretary of Environmental Affairs, with responsibility for the planning and management of all environmental and natural resource conservation policies and programs for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Mr. Hoyte also previously served as chairman of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority and secretary-treasurer of the Massachusetts Port Authority. He is currently on the board of trustees for several organizations including Massachusetts Environmental Trust, Cambridge College and Wheaton College, and serves on the board of advisors for Massachusetts Audobon Society. Mr. Hoyte received his law degree from Harvard Law School and is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association, and American Bar Association. He is a resident of Lexington.
Dr. H. Eugene Lindsey, Jr. has chaired the Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates board of trustees since the transition of the physicians' group to an independent organization in 1997. He will continue in that role, in addition to his chairmanship of the Atrius Health board, until a new chair is elected. Dr. Lindsey served on the board of Harvard Community Health Plan/Harvard Pilgrim Health Care from 1991 to 2000. He joined the Harvard Vanguard practice in 1975 and practices cardiology and internal medicine at the Kenmore, Wellesley and West Roxbury Harvard Vanguard practices. Dr. Lindsey is a resident of Wellesley.
Dr. Lindsey assumes the Atrius Health Board chairmanship from Dr. Michael A. Lee, who had been chair since its inception in 2004. Dr. Lee has accepted a position within Atrius Health as Director of Clinical Informatics. In this new role, Dr. Lee will help Atrius Health to identify and oversee the implementation of clinical strategies and practice efficiencies to ensure the optimal use of information technologies, particularly the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. He will also continue his pediatrics practice at Dedham Medical Associates, which he joined in 1991. Dr. Lee is a resident of Weston.
