Commitment to Quality
Measurably improving the health of our patients is at the heart of our mission. Atrius Health clinicians and staff work to continuously improve the quality of our patient care using a variety of approaches. This includes population management activities, such as contacting patients who are overdue for screening tests or appointments; regularly educating our clinicians about the latest medical knowledge; and educating our patients to become engaged in their own healthcare through our on-line patient portal called MyHealth, group visits, health education materials, after visit care plans, and understanding their own barriers to health.
This focus on quality improvement and evidence-based medicine (using the latest medical knowledge available) has led us to achieve very high quality scores as measured by Massachusetts Health Quality Partners, an independent, non-profit organization that collects and publicly reports statewide patient experience and clinical performance data.
We are annually recognized by local health plans for our achievement in physician quality including the Harvard Pilgrim Physician Group Honor Roll for excellence in pediatric and adult care, and Tufts Health Plan Blue Ribbon designation for excellence in adult and pediatric patient care. Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates was awarded recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance(NCQA) for patient education and support and care management.
Patient Engagement
An important component of healthcare is each patient's engagement in his or her own health. Whether it is understanding the long-term consequences of diabetes, or the risks of taking antibiotics for viral illnesses, each patient must become knowledgeable about his or her health. In addition to health education materials provided at a visit with the clinician, there are many resources available on the internet to help patients become better informed about their health.
